History and Background
In 1983 Schaeffer Asphalt Services owner Tom Schaeffer began selling driveway sealcoat jobs and parking lot striping in the greater Kansas City area. Tom produced high-end quality at the lowest prices and grew an impressive customer base in a short time. Customers were poised and ready to experience the true value of high quality-detail oriented performance with some of the lowest pricing in the area. As a young, hard-working professional the idea was to capture a place in the market where Honesty, Integrity and Doing it the Right Way became a lifestyle. The low-ball pricing strategies and cut-rate performance of many other contractors were easy to ignore as the demand for services from a straight-forward integrity driven company reached higher levels.
In addition to maintaining his own business interest: Tom worked as an equipment operator, truck driver, crew foreman to name a few positions for many years in the Highway/Roadway marking business. Experienced in many types of Highway Traffic Marking applications; Cold Plastic (primed and inlay), Thermo-Plastic, Oil & Latex base Paints, edge and center line reflectors, roadway signage, traffic control equipment to name a few. Tom also worked in the development and fabrication of equipment and machinery for the traffic marking and sealcoat industry. Created specialized tooling and techniques to allow unique application of referenced materials to improve product performance and appearance. This effort transcended into enhanced customer value and while improving efficiency and safety.
